Federal Pell Grant Requirements as a Means of Educational Funding
The federal Pell Grant requirements are meant as the criteria for eligibility of students towards acquiring financial aid taken with the intention of completing their education.
Although there are many ways in which financing for continuation of education to the college or university level can be sought, the Pell Grant is supposed to be one of the best financial aid programs which are run by the US Government.
The federal Pell Grant requirements , meaning the eligibility for this grant requires the fulfillment of certain conditions on part of the student. When a particular student applies for the federal Pell Grant his qualifications are fed into the computer and subjected to a certain calculation the result of which is the EFC number, meaning the expected family contribution, of the student.
Since this is the very first requirement, it has to be fulfilled even before the other aspects are considered because the main intention of the US Government in creating this grant many years ago was to provide financial assistance to students of the low-income bracket.
Therefore, with a view to help, the federal Pell Grant requirements were created and students who qualify for it are meant to receive a certain amount of money every year as a means to fund their education.
The other Pell Grant requirements are that the applicant must be an undergraduate who does not have any other graduation degree, must be either a US citizen or an eligible non-citizen and must possess a high-school certificate.
The last condition is to prove that the applicant would truly benefit from the educational program which is being offered in terms of pursuing a career later in life. In addition, the student must also possess a valid social security number which would prove that he would be in a position to legally live and attend college in US.
After all the federal Pell Grant requirements are fulfilled, the aspiring student can then commence the process of filling the requisite forms the first step of which involves filling of an online form commonly referred to as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form.
Along with this form, one needs to submit information like tax returns, untaxed income, bank statements, investments and business records to the financial aid office. The federal office takes a couple of weeks to process all this information at the end of which the student is notified about the results.
